About a week ago, my allergies flared up something awful. I tried a few of the things I normally would like: drinking more fluids, Vitamin C, menthol cough drops, and cold compresses but nothing seemed to relieve me. Meanwhile, the sniffles were more persistent and the cough had gotten worse. But, praise Yah, I did not reach for that purple and white bottle.
Since I’ve been weaning my family and I off of pharma, I’ve been seeking home remedies used with natural ingredients. I think this one is a keeper! I was amazed to see in less than twenty-four hours the coughing and hacking was gone! Because the ginger wrap has worked wonders for me, I want to share it with you.
Lets get to the recipe!
- 1 Tbsp fresh ginger or ginger powder
- Raw honey
- Arrowroot powder
- Coconut oil
- Gauze or cheesecloth
- Medical/surgical tape
Gather all the ingredients. Mix the raw honey and arrowroot powder together until it forms the consistency of paste. Gradually add in coconut oil and ginger keeping the mixture pasty. Apply the mixture onto a Kleenex, then wrap the Kleenex with gauze. Cut 2 to 4 strips of medical tape and attach it to the gauze. Place on your chest or the center of your back overnight. After removing wrap, rinse area with water to remove residue.
Note: Apply wrap to children for 2 to 3 hours. Remove prior to bedtime.
If you feel a little heat it’s the ginger working, which helps with the inflammation. Ginger has many more medicinal properties and is also used for the treatment of chronic health conditions, such as diabetes, high cholesterol, chronic indigestion and more.
